Newest Music Audio Preaching
Sermons & Studies - 2004/2005
These are the newest sermons and writings begun in 2004/2005 which includes updated versions of the old material from the recent past as recently preached and presented.  These are the most recent and maybe the 'last' times that these will be preached here in Touchet.  Prayerfully, they will be preached in other churches or homes, if God would be so gracious to allow such a thing.  But if not, this material is available here for my personal family in years to come for their own awareness of "grandpa - dad's" preaching on music as well as for our website family and anyone else interested in preachings about what the King James Bible says about music.

Music is powerful, but it is not to be a power!
Music can be clean or dirty, but it is not to be a cleansing agent!
Music can be healthy or it can make you sick, but it is not to be a power to heal!

All of this written material is available in greater detail within the online book Biblical Perspective on Music.
Sermon title includes specific online written notes if underlined and colored!

Music Series Introduction - Written Outline/Notes
A is a series preached in Vancouver, WA.  This was intended to be a series of sermons warning parents and pastors about music for their children and children's Bible cassettes and videos, etc.  But this stuff is good for adults as well.

Music Series Part III - Written Outline/Notes
Today we are looking more specifically as to what specific warnings from the Scriptures do we have towards what is happening in our children's music and videos.  These music "sermons" from this week are all leading up to Friday's 'attempt' at showing some of the musical specifics within the music itself.

Music Series Part IV - powerpoint  presentation
This is the audio that accompanies the powerpoint presentation on some shortened versions of a few of my music presentations. This would be a good overall summary of that information.  You can try to follow along visually as you listen to the audio.  The subjects mentioned are, 1) How music replaced the Bible in America, 2) Elements of music and how they affect us, 3) a short introduction on the importance of Shem, Ham & Japheth and 4) a very short animated chart on the history of music from Job to Revelation.

Absolute Music for an Absolute God
The Rise, Peak, Fall & Crash of Japheth's Music
Introduction
Ask yourself this question: "Does my music please God?"  This is a series that will explain the design of a music that we can play and listen to that will please God.  In other words, there IS a music that pleases God.  Of course, is must be absolute music because He is an absolute God!  This series will tell you what that phrase means.

Absolute Music for an Absolute God
History of Japheth Music
This is an attempt to show you a quick history of the music of Japheth as it is quickly compared to the music of Ham & Shem.  We are looking for a standard of music that we know has pleased God in the past so that we can have a standard for music today to prove that which is acceptable unto the Lord.  However, because I botched the sound towards the end of this sermon, the audio to this sermon is in two parts.  The first part has a much better quality of sound than part II, even though they are both of the same sermon.  In this sermon, see how God 'enlarged' Japheth in the area of music!  Even though these are generalized teachings, I would encourage music students as well as musicians to look into this particular approach in a detailed manner - it is a fascinating study - nothing as to what you had been taught in your average music appreciation class!

The Design of Japheth's Best Music - Foundational Notation
What do those circles and lines mean?  How is Japheth's music different from Ham and Shem?  How is the music of Japheth so absolute in design?  Give this sermon a try.

Part IIIb
The Design of Japheth's Best Music - Melody
Now that we have a 'slight' concept of the lines, spaces and notes of musical notation, let us look at what makes a good Godly melody!  I preached my heart out on this subject - melody is so important for a Christian to be aware of.  I hope you can listen to all of this sermon - but I do apologize for my singing voice!

The Design of Japheth's Best Music - Harmony
Now that we have a 'slight' concept of the lines, spaces and notes of musical notation, as well as having a general concept of what makes a good Godly melody, we take a very 'simple' look at harmony.  (harmony is more than one played at the same time - a chord)  We look at how a chord is developed, constructed and how they affect our feelings.  We also then look at a chord progression - how chords move throughout the music.   A bonus teaching is how we see that the very same chord progression that Japheth developed to praise God is used by the devil in rock music, only with the Hammite beat added.

The Leaven of Harmony & Form of Japheth's Best!
Listen to a few examples of how the jazzed up chords from the 1930's, etc. have spoiled the purity of our solid & pure hymns.  Also, I try to explain the lack of confusion in the design & form of Japheth's "best."  We learn about Symphony, Concerto, Sonata, etc.  This sermon informs the hearer of more of God's blessing to Japheth's music compared to the curse of what the world has done to God's music.

Part IV
The Design of Japheth's Best Music - Rhythm
We take a 'unique' look and listen to how the rhythm / beat affects the flesh.  Learn about the leavening of rhythm over the years - and how even in Bible Believing Baptist Churches the element of RHYTHM has slipped in through the melody in bluegrass, etc.  Hear what you can learn from some mice in the 80's about rhythm and how it affects our brains.  I hope this helps explains a little about rhythm.  THIS is the most dangerous and damaging of the elements of music.

A Distinction in Sound - I Cor 14:7,8
Music in Our Trend-setting Bible Believing Churches Today!
If you have no idea what is going on in our "trend-setting" Bible Believing churches concerning music, here are some audio examples.  If you already know what is going on, then fast forward to the preaching.  You will hear about how music exposes your heart as well as how music should be a "result," not a "cause."  See why God is going to eventually shut down the music that has now come into our Bible Believing churches.  This is a most amazing subject for me to preach.  I truly never thought this kind of music would ever enter into our own churches - but it has - but NEVER into Touchet Baptist Church!

The Clean Sound - Psalm 89:15
The sound of Japheth's pure music sets itself apart from all other music.  Here are a few examples as well as a few points about the clean and healthy sound of Japheth’s Baroque and Classical music – the peak of absolute music.

The Romantic Era - The Fall Begins
Starting with Beethoven and ending with Wagner, we see the change from the purity of the 'sound' to the passion of man's emotions.  Music now begins to paint a picture of man's mind.  Is that a bad thing?  It can be, but doesn't have to be - this is a short sermon and we just finished eating burgers and hot apple cider floats - so we do have an 'interesting' time with it.

Impressionism in the Twentieth Century - The Fall and Crash of Japheth's Music
Hear a few musical details as well as listen to some torturous clips of 'modern' music.  You will understand the demise of Japheth's music.  Also, hear a few examples of how the music in Bible Believing churches is falling apart.

How the Pentecostal Flavouring Has Come Into Our Bible Believing Churches
Through Bluegrass Gospel Music!
Looking at the Pentecostal teachings, we see that those same concepts from Modern Christianity such as Purpose Driven, Alpha, etc. are now coming into our BB churches -and it is coming because of bluegrass and gospel music.
